Yet another week has come and gone and that must mean that we're at another Moonie Monday! This week, we're going to take a look at the Sailor Moon "Puffy" pin set that was released by GE in early 2012.

Quality - The quality of the pins is pretty well done over all. They're sturdy and made of what appears to be a silicone or rubber type material. They are molded actually quite well considering the small details that are on the pins themselves. The paint seems even and within it's lines, while the colors are very vibrantly chosen. The backs are metal and are the pinch closures, which is nice for pinning to various articles. Unfortunately, we do not have any kind of metal backing behind the actual pin itself, leaving a smooth surface of rubber/silicone. Unfortunately this can cause issues much later on if the pin is yanked on or put onto dark colored surfaces for an extended period of time.

Appearance - These pins are amazing to look at. They're bright and vibrant and well recognized by all who might take a glimpse at them. Though the brooch pin you cannot see but up close the slogan, it's still very nice to have pinned to your lanyard, shirt, purse or whatever for all to see! The detailing on each pin is very nicely done, down to the very whiskers of Luna and Artemis!

Packaging - These pins are pinned to a rather thick cardboard backing, while placed in a plastic sleeve to prevent from staining, scratching or any other damage that may occur otherwise. Unfortunately, still no change in the artwork for the packaging however.

Art - The artwork on the actual cardboard is, as I said, the same as in previous installments. Unfortunately, we seem to have the same ol' same ol' with GE at this point. Hopefully with the fire lit of the new Anime coming in 2013, they'll start to experiment with different poses and characters? Until then, we have Sailor Moon sitting on her moon with her wand, giving a soft smile, set against that pink starry background with the logo above.

Functionality - Functionally speaking, this pin set does what it's set out to do, pin to something and look "cool". And it does it rather well provided to continue to care for your pin. Be careful what you pin it to, how thick it is and how many times you move and remove it. As this can cause wear and/or damage to the actual mechanism on the pin. You wouldn't want to lose or ruin it, right?

Fun - These pins are a LOT of fun to have and wear. While they're more 3 dimensional than the others we've seen thus far, these pins attract attention from all those that see them. Besides, having Luna, Artemis AND the brooch all at once, what more could a Moonie ask for?!

Cost - Fortunately, these pins are not going to break the bank. Running anywhere from about $3 to $10 per set.

Availability - If you can't find these at your local anime store, or online at your favorite online anime store, fret not! eBay and Amazon are there to help! Typically they are within a reasonable price range. I personally received mine from RightStuf and had no issues with their services.

So if you're looking for more pins to add much needed flare to your shirt, lanyard, purse, backpack, jacket or suspenders, look no more! For these "puffy" pins are sure to amaze! And what better characters to sport than helpful Luna and adorable Artemis as your own personal little voice of reason from time to time?! Not to mention, having the brooch to have pinned to you, so you can secretly henshin into Sailor Moon .. within your own mind and imagination .. complete with sound effects! Just don't close your eyes and start dancing while vocally doing said effects .. generally people at Starbucks don't like it ..
