This flash back Friday, we're looking at the PGSM Jewelry Star Bracelet released by Bandai Japan in 2003. This was for the live action show that was airing at the current time in Japan.

Quality - This bracelet has probably the better quality of most of the Sailor Moon items out to date. But then, that MIGHT be because there have been so many advancements since Sailor Moon toys first came out. It's made of thick plastic, with gems that snap into place almost flawlessly. It appears durable and truly has excellent sound quality (no muffling really)!

Appearance - This bracelet really does the show justice here. We have a bracelet that looks almost identical to the ones used in the show! It's made of durable thick plastic, with little sparkly gemstones around the senshi emblem you choose. It's got the detailed gold paint all over along with the silver paint as well. Best of all, the gems themselves are colored like in the show and have the senshi's symbols on them! It really is very nicely done.

Packaging - Once again, we have a piece of packaging that actually does what it's supposed to WITHOUT all the ties and nonsense that we get here (making me take at LEAST an HOUR to get a simple DOLL out of box on Christmas is NOT my way of "fun"). It's well packaged so it doesn't float around, but still offers a good clear view of everything. With plastic holding it in there and plastic ATOP the item to hold it together, it really does hold through almost any kind of "abuse".

Art - Here's where we seem to be lacking. The art is consistent with the others that came from the PGSM series, with the blue background and gems littered all around and the picture of Sailor Moon (or sometimes Venus) on the front striking a pose. Of course, on the top we have the other senshi (as this IS one of THEIR items) along with the logo on almost EVERY side of the package. The detailed instructions on the box are easy for anyone to understand as well, even if you don't read Japanese.

Functionality - Functionally speaking, it works superbly. It gives the music and everything! It gives the chiming noise that you're going to transform along with a slick melody to turn and dance to, all while the jewel lights up. If your wrist is small enough (keep in mind this was MEANT for children), you just push it together and slip the band over like a watch. Which helps it hold in place really well!

Fun - What could be more fun than running around the house screaming "Mercury/Mars/Venus/Jupiter Star Power~ Make~ UP!!", doing a dance and striking a senshi pose!? This piece gives the feel like you actually have a piece of the show on your wrist.

Cost - And here's where it gets a bit saddening, the cost of this toy can really range from $50 to $250 on eBay. Unfortunately, people set their own price for this one. But in the beginning it could be seen retailing for around $50.

Availability - Sadly, I have not seen anywhere where this is available at the moment. I've checked eBay, but there are none to be seen. But fret not! They DO pop up now and again. Just keep a watchful eye!

To conclude... THIS TOY ROCKS!!! ... *ahem* .. You can have a lot of fun with this toy if you want to take it out and play with it. The batteries are a bit expensive, but if you're willing to seek 'em out at your local Walgreens, it's not a HUGE issue. The big downside, is that most people in their "adulthood" won't be able to really "play" with this piece. But no worries, there IS one for those adults that want to play Senshi too (I'll be reviewing that another time)!
If you're looking to collect PGSM items, this piece is definitely a must in the collection. It's small enough to sit and display and still awes people when they pass by. Just be sure to watch the price on this one and don't get taken in!
