Although our Flash Back Friday is almost over, we're still going to try and cut it close to that wire to get a Sailor Moon Review out there! This Friday we're taking a look at the Eternal Sailor Moon Beauty Change Doll from Bandai done in 1996.

Quality - The quality of these Japanese dolls is much better than what we were used to seeing as far as Sailor Moon dolls were concerned. Their faces are a lot more friendly and detailed and their clothing much more detailed as well. While the dolls have about the same bendable qualities as an old Barbie doll, these dolls are nothing alike. The sheer quality of materials used seem to hold up much better than any Barbie I've seen over this long. However, most of my barbies ended up with a "new look" at my age 'a la' Sharpe marker.

Appearance - Looking at this doll, it's unmistakable who it is or what season she's even from. We have Eternal Sailor Moon looking a bit too young for her age (still cute none the less), in her Eternal outfit, ready to quick change like a magician into something more proper for a night out on the town with Mamoru. With her pearl colored wings and metallic accents, she really stands out from all the rest. They even attempted to get every detail as best they possibly could into this doll, right down to the earrings.

Packaging - The box is both sturdy and beautiful. With a thicker cardboard to hold it together, it has really stood the test of time. While it appears to have some twist-ties and plastic to keep her looking gorgeous in her box, that seems to be about it. Atop this, she also comes with a nice card for you to have!

Art - The artwork we see around the box is absolutely magnificent. We have of course Eternal Sailor Moon posing, with some nice examples on how to change her on the front and backing of the box. Which speaking of the back, we have an absolutely stunning and crisp picture of Eternal Sailor Moon looking all too serene. Finally, on the sides we have silhouettes of the outter senshi striking an unmistakable pose as well.

Functionality - While I'm sure this doll was meant to be taken out and had fun with, I can only imagine it does it's job quite well.

Fun - While once again, I would LOVE to take her out and play dollies with her, alas, I will be keeping her in box for the time being. Although, she is something to truly look at! It's definitely a blast having her there and I'm sure she's a lot of fun to play with, with her quick change routine.

Cost - If you're LUCKY you can snag this one up for about $75 every now and again. Otherwise, I've seen this doll going for anywhere from $150 to $250 normally.

Availability - Unfortunately, since this doll has been away so very long, the only place you'll be able to find it is eBay. And because of such, be prepared to pay obscene amounts for her too for the most part. However, every now-and-again, you will find one up on actual AUCTION that you might get a better chance at snagging.

So there we have it, the Eternal Sailor Moon Beauty Change doll. One of the many others that came out in the other Senshi! Personally I think she's quite something. She definitely is truly a lot different from the other dolls that I've seen before. Especially the NA dolls that were released! Now if only I could continue to keep myself from opening her up to play with her.. I think I'll be good.
