It's Monday again! And that means another new review! This week we're starting off by looking at the NEW Sailor Moon Wall Scrolls! For picture purposes, we'll be focusing on ONE of the wall scrolls in particular. But they ALL receive the same review. These wall scrolls were released by GE in the start of 2012.
Quality - The quality of these wall scrolls are relatively nice. They are made of a thick canvas material, which means they aren't as thin as we've seen previously with other wall scrolls. Although the print job on the wall scroll seems a bit "dotty" up close, when looking from afar it does look quite well. The hooks to hang it with, you slip onto the top rod and using 2 nails, hang it. While it's clever, it's not practical. I rather liked the actual "rope" hanging that previous scrolls came with instead.
Appearance - Looking at this wall scroll from afar, you might be pleasantly surprised at how crystal clear it looks! The colors just pop and the Luna Pen background is a nice touch for any Moonie! Unfortunately (like the pillow) this piece falls apart slightly when up close. It gives the impression of "stipple" working when close to it. Which might not seem bothersome to others, it is somewhat of a pet peeve of mine. It reminds me very much of the Sunday Funnies print work.
Packaging - The plastic that these come in seem rather flimsy and easily tear. Although one shouldn't expect much for a wall scroll, if you plan to keep it in the plastic, you might want to put another bag around it. As this plastic doesn't do much for keeping it well for long periods and slightly rough handling.
Art - The artwork for this scroll is wonderful! Such a happy Sailor Moon posing for all to see, with a pink background and Luna Pen's scattered about. It's definitely something to brighten up your day!
Functionality - While this is a wall scroll and it's function is to hang on your wall, unless you have a level and some patience, it might take a bit. Using one I've found leaves the edges to seem stressed and sag. So it's important to use BOTH hanging pieces. This can make things difficult to hang straight if you don't have at least a ruler and a pencil.
Fun - This scroll is a lot of fun! It really can brighten up any room! The others are no exception! They all have their charming qualities and with each using their own colors, you could easily place one in each room accordingly and let those walls really shine!
Cost - I've seen these run anywhere from $14 to $23 depending on where you go AND which senshi you're looking for.
Availability - While you can find these at almost ANY Anime store local or online, you can also find these on Amazon and eBay for a relatively nice price.
So if you're looking for a decent wall scroll without the hassle of oversea's shipping, this is definitely it. You can individualize who you want on your wall or there are 2 wall scrolls with all of the senshi combined! Sorry, so outer senshi as of yet, but hopefully GE will feature some of them in the coming future!
I can only hope that their print quality goes up a bit for these scrolls, as they do feature some wonderful artwork! .. Now if I could only convince my boyfriend to let me put one of each in every room ... *shifty eyes*
