This Wednesday we're looking at the GE Animation Sailor Moon Brooch Pin.

Quality - This pin gets 4 ♥'s for quality because it really is sturdy. This is NOT a plastic piece of junk by any means! It's actually metal with an acrylic gem in the center and what appears to be acrylic paint for the other "gems" around the brooch. It pins on with a fairly secure pin back (twist to lock) to hold onto whatever you're pinning it to!

Appearance - This pin gets 4 ♥'s for appearance, because they really did a great job on this "pin" to incorporate all the details they could for the fans out there. My only gripe? I really wish they would have used a different acrylic gem in the center and actual acrylic gems for the one's around.

Packaging - The packaging gets 3 ♥'s because although it's pinned to the back of a thick card, it's also placed into a sealed plastic bag to prevent scratching and such. It's not the best packaging available, but it is nice to see them taking a step in the right direction.

Art - This pin gets 4 ♥'s for the artwork. The card has a really nice image of Sailor Moon on it with the traditional GE pink background for Sailor Moon. Overall, it's not spectacular, but for what they had to work with, kudo's!

Functionality - This pin gets 4 ♥'s for functionality. As it not only can be used to represent your moonie pride, it's GREAT for cosplayers out there!! No more using bulky toy lockets to hot glue or adhere by some means for your outfit!

Fun - This pin get's 4 ♥'s for fun as it's definitely fun to wear and secretly pretend that you yourself are the fighter of love and justice!! I just wouldn't go announcing that publicly, less you want the nice men in "white coats" to come carry you off.

Cost - This piece get's 4 ♥'s for cost because for a cosplay themed item, it's relatively cheap. You can find it anywhere from about $9.99 to $19.99 depending on where you look/go.

Availability - This pin gets 3 ♥'s for availability, because it kind of is a hard one to track down. You can find it on eBay, Amazon or some Anime stores if you look hard enough. But it does tend to sell out rather quickly.

Overall this brooch/pin is a gem of a find for any cosplayer! It will really set the costume up nicely and has a professional quality to it that you just won't find for under $50. And even if you're NOT a cosplayer, how fun is it to wear something like THIS around?! It screams "Sailor Moon Fanatic" much better than any other pin out there. Or better yet, Secret Moon Society .. anyone?

  1. In my opinion this brooch is much too small to cosplay with.

    1. I think if you're on a tight budget and you still want to cosplay or have some halloween fun, this brooch is just enough to get you through. Heck, it's a far cry better than the fabric/foam one that came with the licensed costume that came out last year.. heh.
