This Flash Back Friday we're looking at the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Princess-P Harp/Sword toy from Bandai Japan. This toy was released in 2004 in accordance with the live action television show "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" that was airing at the time.

Quality - I have to say, this toy is by far probably my favorite PGSM toy. The quality put into this toy and all it's pieces is truly remarkable. It was so carefully designed with accuracy and knowledge of their audience, that much is clear. Not to mention, it's got durability there for even the toughest of Moonies fighting youma.

Appearance - The sheer appearance of this piece is something to awe at. It's almost identical to the one used in the television show. Keeping in mind that this is also a toy for children and not a TV prop, it's scaled to said size for easy play with the little one's. It's not overwhelming either like some of the other Anime toys out there.

Packaging - The packaging is very nicely put together. It's eye catching and the way everything is packed in front of that window, leaves nothing to the imagination other than what one can DO with such an interesting Moonie toy!

Art - Nothing is really drawn on this box, but we have the images of Princess Moon all over, with her smiling so nicely as she holds her harp proudly and giving this defensive smile as she holds her sword close. I especially like how they show on BOTH sides of the box how to transform this piece, as well as on the back. That is where I believe my favorite picture of Princess Moon comes in, with her so elegantly seated with harp in hand.

Functionality - Here we have a toy that will allow the Moonie to have a lot of fun. It's 2 toys in one!! You can be the elegant soft Princess Moon, or the defensive and determined Princess Moon too! What really sets this one apart from any other Sailor Moon toy out there, is the fact that this piece in it's 2 different ways to play, has 2 very different sound effects when transformed. As the harp, it has sensors that pick up when your fingers play it as such, playing Princess Moon's iconic melody, or push the button and play your OWN melody, with a heart to light up it's tune. But transform it into the sword and that's a whole new story!! Press the button and you have this happy battle melody with light up heart!

Fun - This toy truly has almost endless fun. From the moment you turn it on, playing that chime that we all know from PGSM to the moment you put it down (finally).

Cost - Thus far I've seen this particular toy go anywhere from $50 to $250, depending on when you buy it and what condition you're buying it in.

Availability - Unfortunately, because this is somewhat of a "vintage" toy, you're going to have a bit of trouble finding this piece anywhere in Anime stores. This is why eBay becomes a good friend! You can find it there for a relatively nice price.

Overall this really is a fantastic toy! It really revolutionized the Sailor Moon toy world with it's capabilities! I love how it's 2 toys in one and that with the change to each, it changes the sounds accordingly! It's not too big for little one's to grab onto and have fun with, but has just enough details in it to really make it shine! I personally recommend this toy in anyone's PGSM or Sailor Moon collection.
Besides, you can always use this to take to work and AMAZE your co-workers with your AMAZING harp skills.. WITHOUT STRINGS!! *waves hands all magic-like*
