Today we're going to be looking at the Sailor Moon wristband by GE. Released late 2011/early 2012.

Quality - Like most wristbands that came out in the 80's, this one seems to be made of the same materials. Thus, it has it's up's and down's. The material it's made of is nice and soft and easily stretches to almost any wrist size. However, snag it once on something (trapper keepers anyone?) and it's essentially ruined. It's basically made of a stretch terrycloth fabric, made to fit a large range of wrists and absorb sweat.

Appearance - It's quite nicely done actually. On one we have the locket, with Sailor Moon's catch phrase. While on the other we have Sailor Moon's silhouette and on the reverse, "Sailor Moon" with a crescent moon behind it. It's not TOO flashy, but comes in bright enough colors to catch the eye. It's all embroidered INTO the band as well, instead of some iron on patch that seemed to come out of the factory. I wish I could say the same for the brooch one, as that one DOES appear to be more of an iron on than embroidered into the band itself.

Packaging - Unfortunately, it's wrapped around a piece of cardboard and left to hang in stores. This is actually very unfortunate, as most children of the 80's know, that these things get dirty .. quick. It doesn't take much. And because of the lack of packaging ON this, I've seen some sitting on hooks that have obviously hit the floor more than once.

Art - The artwork is nicely done. As I said before, it's not too flashy. The silhouette on the one band is very tastefully done. While the brooch looking one is very nicely done as well, I do wish that it did NOT have the catch phrase on it. As it does leave for many to "add" their comments in.

Functionality - Functionally speaking, yet again, this piece sets out to be exactly what it's meant to be. A wristband. Although, back in MY day, we called them "wrist cuffs" .. but hey, either way, it goes on the wrist and is meant to look "cool".

Fun - These wristbands are a blast to wear. They cling to you pretty well, they're soft and bright and easily recognizable by their designs what it's from to all other Moonies out there. You can wear it while you're working out, or on a trip to the mall .. it really doesn't matter! The bright colors alone are enough to just scream "happy"!

Cost - Thus far I've seen these go from about $3.25 to $10.00, depending on where you go.

Availability - Once more, if you're fortunate to live near an FYE store, you might be able to find some leftover stock there. Otherwise, you can always find these items on eBay and Amazon too for a decent price (if not cheaper!).

Overall, I do believe this is a fun accessory to have and to wear! Having it in the collection certainly brightens up the space and wearing it will brighten up your day! So either way it's a win/win!! Just don't go wearing the legwarmers and sweatband around, I do believe we've had enough 80's for one century ..
