So this Wednesday we're going to be taking a look at the Sailor Moon Lanyard first released by Hot Topic in 2011, by GE Animation.

Quality - There is a certain sense of good quality here in the pieces that make up this lanyard. The rubber emblem of Sailor Moon for one, is quite thick. The necklace strap itself also seems of fair quality, although it's screen printed (Just be aware that because of the screen printing, it will LIKELY peel off in time) and the actual "hook" itself isn't the cheap $.10 hook that some come with and come apart. The main issue with quality is the tag itself, being made of a rather flimsy and easily tear-able plastic.

Appearance - I adore this simple lanyard. It has stars along with a nicely written "Sailor Moon" all along the strap, with a nice thick Sailor Moon charm almost, dangling off of it with your tag. It's not too flashy to wear to work (if allowed) and yet easily recognizable!

Packaging - No surprises here in the lack of packaging once more. Just a simple tag this time held by what can only be described as a hair tie. Although the tag (like all the others), is very nicely done..

Art - It's simplistic and recognizable, but the real art comes in the Sailor Moon "dangle" that comes with the lanyard. With Sailor Moon holding her crescent moon wand and giving a bright smile, it's inviting to anyone who wears it.

Functionality - Once again, GE delivers on making an item worth actually using. Functionally speaking, it does what it's set out to do with a certain sense of Moonie pride!

Fun - A Sailor Moon lanyard to wear and sport around is definitely a lot of fun. Especially if you're allowed to wear a lanyard to work!! It's always hard to sport your Moon love when you're at the workplace, but this is your chance!!

Cost - I personally purchased mine from Hot Topic and cost $8.00. But I've seen them from $5.42 to $9.99 online.

Availability - This one you can get straight from Hot Topic's online site or in their stores. But if they seem to be all sold out, don't fret! You can also find this piece on Amazon and eBay as well! If you're lucky, you'll get a GREAT deal on Amazon (Prime members only pay $9.99 with FREE shipping!). Otherwise, just be prepared to sometimes pay a bit extra for it.

Overall this piece is really a nice find and fun to have and wear. It's definitely something new and different than what was delivered to us the last time Sailor Moon came into town. I highly suggest that if you're going to use this, to go to Wal*Mart and get yourself a pack of thicker plastic badges. It's WELL worth it, as they last far longer than this ever will.

  1. HI! Love your blog and all that you're doing! just wondering how would this lanyard stand up to being a lanyard for your keys? Thanks!

  2. Thank you so very much!! As far as your keys go, I think it would stand up for a good while. Considering it's got a much stronger clasp to it than most. I wouldn't expect it to last forever though or go tugging on it. But in my personal opinion, you could likely get some good use out of it. :) Hope that helps!
