It's a new week and for the start we're going to be taking a look at the GE Sailor Moon Pin Set that was released late 2011/early 2012.

Quality - So far the quality of these pins seems up to standards for those who enjoy wearing their pins. They are made of a softer metal, with the picture and then some acrylic coats on top to ensure it's shine. The pin backs are what really had me, seeing that they didn't take the cheaper silicone route and instead went with the more durable "pinch" pin backs to ensure that it stays on. It's not the best pin back (the screw backs I've found to be the best thus far), but it certainly is far better than the cheaper backs that just seem to slip on and off.

Appearance - These pins are probably the better of the one's that come from GE. However, I'm more so annoyed by the fact that every pin says "Sailor Moon" on them, despite the character. I would have loved to see more of the actual senshi names of each of them below the appropriate character than to have a generic "Sailor Moon" below each. Still, they are lovely to look at, tastefully done in size and easily recognizable. Most of all, they didn't go with a simpler shape (like a circle or square), but instead put them in stars. Which totally made me think of the last season. A very nice touch.

Packaging - The packaging isn't any different from any of the other piece's we've seen artistically speaking (and I'll get into that). However, the nice thicker cardboard backing with the plastic over it really does offer some reassurance to collectors I'm sure. With it limiting scratching and bending, it's sure to please. The only disappointing factor is that the only real way to display this, is to have it pinned up or hanging. But if you're not looking for a shelved piece, it's actually nicely put together.

Art - Artistically speaking, we're still looking a bit "blah". Here we have Sailor Moon yet again, sitting atop her crescent moon with a smile and wand, with that familiar pink background and logo atop. Honestly, I wish they would add a bit more variance with their artwork for packaging. Especially when the others are involved!

Functionality - Once again, GE doesn't disappoint with functionality here. We have 6 pins that do exactly what they're set out to do and rather well at that.

Fun - While normally wearing anything Sailor Moon is fun, these are pins. And unfortunately, unless you like playing with them as bust like action figures at the counter at work or while waiting in line to pay for groceries, they really don't offer much more than being pleasing to the eye.

Cost - As far as cost is concerned, you can find these pins for anywhere from $6.00 to $9.00 USD. Relatively reasonably priced when you're getting 2 pins per pack.

Availability - Once again, if you're fortunate enough to have an FYE or Anime store near you, you can typically find these fairly easily. But if you don't, no worries! eBay and Amazon have got your back!

If you're looking for nice pins you can attach to your lanyard, coat, shirt, purse or whatever, that are nice looking and will hold on rather well, these are definitely the pins to go with. They're not HUGE by any means and tastefully done. Just remember that you'll LIKELY have to explain to those who are new to the Moonie world, that not EVERY character is "Sailor Moon". But just think how cool you'll look, explaining each character in excruciating detail to all that would listen. Just be sure to hold your Moonie head proud while doing so and strike a Senshi pose, so it just looks all the more cooler!
